These natural, vegan, chemical free and kind to the environment hazelnutella balls are just the tasty treats your tastebuds have been asking for! You don’t need to be an expert in the kitchen, these balls are quick and easy to make!
I don’t know about you, but I am a sucker for chocolatey treats. Growing up I absolutely LOVED the Nutella snacks that my parents would put in my lunchbox every day. That hazelnutty, chocolate goodness was something I looked forward to (can anyone say chocolate addict?!).
As I’ve grown up I have started to focus more on creating tasty treats that are a bit more natural, chemical free and kind to the environment. But this recipient comes from my twin sister who made these when we lived together in California. So when I make these I think of epic Californian adventures. I absolutely love that taste of Nutella and although they use RSPO Palm Oil, I am trying my best to avoid as many products I can that use palm oil even if it is RSPO. But you know what my nanna says “life is too short to miss out on the things you love”.
So brace yourself for all the hazelnutty creaminess and all the goodness of not having one ounce of palm oil in it and being completely natural – and you can make this as vegan as you like or not! If you’re not vegan, cow’s milk works just as well as dairy alternatives.
What you’ll need:
- 2 cups of blanched hazelnuts, with or without skins
- 10-12 pitted dates
- 2 tablespoons of almond milk (or any milk you’d like really!)
- 2 tablespoons of raw cacao
- Vanilla extract to taste (optional)
- Coconut oil spray to roll up the balls
How to create the magic:
Roast the hazelnuts in the oven at 280 degrees Celsius for about 10-15 minutes. Let them cool before pulling the skins off (if you bought them without their skins you obviously can skip this bit).
Add the hazelnuts to a blender and turn that sucker on. Once the hazelnuts are in a nice meal texture, combine the remaining ingredients.
Transfer the mixture to a bowl and moisten your hands with the some coconut oil to make the rolling of the balls a lot easier. If you don’t oil your hands the mixture will be all over your hands and not in the balls.
Once you have the sized balls you want, put these bundles of natural nutella goodness into the fridge! Enjoy!
Much love,
Lara x
