It’s almost that time of year again! Yep, I’m talking about February, the month of love. The time where red and white becomes the trendy fashion colour of love, florists stock up on roses and giant teddy bears holding hears, and every fancy restaurant in town is gearing up for those Valentine’s Day proposals. But you don’t need to be in a relationship to find love this month when the perfect love stories are just waiting for you between the pages of a good romance novel.
So pour yourself a glass of your favourite drink (alcoholic or faux), light some candles and get ready to be swept off your feet with these three romantic book recommendations.

1. The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
OK, this would have to be the ultimate romance novel ever written (or maybe that’s just the opinion of my best friend Erin and I). This is the one love story I keep coming back to read time and time again. Set in the winter coldness of Russia during World War 2, the Bronze Horseman is the first book in the love saga trilogy of Tatiana and the very handsome Red Army Officer Alexander. But it wouldn’t be an epic love story without trials and tribulations and this book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster as the war threatens to tear them apart. Will they make it out of the war alive…and together?
Witness the story that will restore your faith in love (and probably have you develop a thing for men in uniform). You can grab a copy of The Bronze Horseman from Amazon, Book Depository, Audible.

2. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
If you’ve been living under a rock and have never seen the series or read the books, let me shed some light. Outlander is the first in this time travelling love story. It follows Claire, a savvy, independent and gorgeous World War 2 nurse who travels to the Scotland Highlands with her modern time husband Frank to rekindle their marriage after being separated by the war. However, one day Claire disappears through a mysterious stone formation and finds herself in the same place – but in a very different century (cue some pretty cool fashion if you’re going to watch the TV series). She meets a Scottish warrior, Jamie Fraser, who she must align herself with to save herself from the clutches of a sadistic British officer (a descendent of her future husband). What started as an alliance out of necessity soon turns into a passionate and spellbinding love story. And ladies, let’s just say this is sophisticated cliterature does have some raunchy yet tastefully written sex scenes (yeah, it’s fancy af porn and I unashamedly love it).
Ladies (and fellas) get ready to be swept off your feet by a handsome Scottish Highlander that will make you wish you could literally go back in time to find him (yeah, I know he’s not real but work with me here peeps). You can grab a copy Outlander from Amazon, Book Depository, Audible

3. A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
Where are all my fellow witchy ladies at? So this is another series that has been adapted for our TV screens (thank goodness!). The series follows a hesitant yet powerful witch, Diana, and a brooding vampire, Matthew, who are both on a mission to find the Book of Life and uncover it’s secrets. However, fate has other things in mind. This is a classic vampire boy meets witchy girl love story and don’t for one second think it’s going to be like Twilight. Firstly, Matthew doesn’t twinkle in the sun and secondly, he’s a grown ass old vampire doing adult things not an old vampire trying to do teenage things. But I digress, back to novel. Though like all love stories, things don’t go so smoothly for Matthew and Diana. The universe (and other magical beings) throw everything in their way to try and keep their love apart – it is, after all, against the law for vampires and witches to be in love. But will their enemies succeed in their dangerous plots to keep Matthew and Diana apart or will their love prevail? I’m not going to lie – the sexual tension described in this book is cliterature foreplay. I never thought my loins and I would be cheering for the moment a fictional couple finally had the forbidden vampire and witch sex (again, not ashamed).
Get lost in this magically passionate love story and grab a copy from Amazon and Audible.
What romance novels do you get lost in? I’d love to hear!
Much love,
